Turn a list of names into random teams in seconds. The generator shuffles the names securely and deals them round-robin, so team sizes differ by at most one person.

Choose the number of teams and get a clear, copy-ready result. It is ideal for pick-up games, classroom projects, workshops, and any group activity where random assignment feels fairer than choosing captains.

Frequently asked questions

How are teams balanced?

Names are shuffled, then dealt one by one across the teams. This keeps sizes within one person of each other. The assignment is random, not skill-balanced.

Can I balance by skill level?

The tool does not know skill levels. For skill-balanced teams, create seeded tiers, shuffle within each tier, and assign players so each team receives one player from each tier.

What if the number of names is not divisible by the number of teams?

Some teams will have one extra person. That is the fairest possible split when the numbers do not divide evenly.

Are names stored?

No. Names are processed in your browser and are not saved on the server.
