Generate passwords that are long, random, and hard to guess. Choose the length and character types, exclude confusing look-alike characters, and copy the result straight into your password manager.

The generator uses your browser's cryptographically secure random source and never sends a password over the network. A strength estimate shows how much entropy your settings produce, so you can balance security with the rules of the site you are using.

How to create a strong password

  1. 01

    Set the length

Aim for at least 16 characters for important accounts.

  2. 02

    Choose character types

Mix uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols where the service allows it.

  3. 03

    Generate and save

Generate, copy, and store the password in a password manager.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to generate passwords in a browser?

Yes, when the page runs locally and the connection is HTTPS. This generator uses crypto.getRandomValues(), keeps passwords in the page, and never transmits them. Still, use a reputable password manager and enable two-factor authentication.

How long should a password be?

Sixteen random characters is a strong default. Longer is better; 20–24 characters adds a comfortable margin. If a site limits length, increase the character variety instead.

What is password entropy?

Entropy measures unpredictability in bits. Each extra random character from a larger character set adds more entropy. The strength meter is an estimate, not a guarantee against every attack.

Should I use a passphrase instead?

A random passphrase of five to seven words is excellent for master passwords you need to type. Use a password manager to generate and store unique passwords for individual accounts.

Why exclude look-alike characters?

Characters such as 0/O and 1/l/I can be confused when read aloud or copied by hand. Excluding them makes manual entry less error-prone.
